Queens Park Rangers captain Clint Hill has insisted that the players are to blame for the club's relegation from the Premier League this season.

QPR spent big money on players at the beginning of the season and again in January, but were unable to avoid the drop.

Hill thinks that it is the players' fault for not performing as well as they could have and admits that they have let the club down.

"The honest truth is that we as players have let a lot of people down, from the chairman to the fans," Hill said.

"It's scandalous that, with the team we have here and the amount of money the clubs has invested, we've gone out and repaid them by putting in embarrassing performances for large parts of the season.

"For whatever reason, as a team of individuals we have not performed to the standards required to stay in the Premier League."

Hill went on to admit that gaining promotion from the Championship next season will be very difficult.
