Joey Barton has had his request for extra time to respond to two charges of violent conduct approved by the Football Association.
The FA charged the Queens Park Rangers captain following his dismissal in the 54th minute against Manchester City for elbowing Carlos Tevez.
Barton appeared to knee City striker Sergio Aguero in the back, before aiming a headbutt in the direction of Vincent Kompany.
He had originally been requested to lodge his plea by 6pm this evening.
However, following consultation with the player's representatives, the FA have granted an extension until tomorrow lunchtime.
