Yakubu has confirmed that he turned down a move to Queens Park Rangers in January because he had his mind set on avoiding relegation with Blackburn Rovers.
The Nigerian striker, who is Rovers' top scorer this season with 13, will return from a three-match suspension to face QPR at Ewood Park this afternoon.
The 29-year-old was the subject of a bid from the Londoners during the transfer window, but he was determined to stay in Lancashire and repay the club for helping get his Premier League career back on track.
Yakubu told The Sun: "I know QPR wanted me, but I'd made up my mind 'I'm not going there' so I told them.
"I want to achieve things here, like keeping the club in the Premier League. The fans and the players have been good for me. You don't turn your back on that.
"I didn't want to come here for a few months and then leave again. My family and I are happy here."
Yakubu signed from Everton in January after struggling to hold down a first-team place on Merseyside.
