Marseille's loanee midfielder Joey Barton has claimed that his teammate Loic Remy has decided to turn down Newcastle United and instead join Premier League rivals Queens Park Rangers.
Newcastle had a bid accepted for the striker over the weekend and the 26-year-old was widely tipped to complete a switch to St James' Park tomorrow morning.
However, reports this afternoon had claimed that the transfer had stalled because struggling QPR had shown a late interest in the centre-forward.
Barton, who is on loan with Marseille from the R's, has since tweeted that the French international has decided upon a switch to his parent club.
"Just heard from a magician that Loic Remy has signed for QPR. Not sure what happened at Newcastle probably Llambas again," he said.
"Gift of the gab from Harry Redknapp perhaps? Thought it was done and dusted to Newcastle. Something must of gone amiss. Great news 4 #QPR."
Remy's representatives have said that a final decision will be made in the next 24 hours.
