Joey Barton has revealed that he is yet to make a decision over his future, despite undergoing a medical with Queens Park Rangers.
The midfielder was told by current club Newcastle United that he could leave on a free transfer following comments that the 28-year-old made on Twitter.
However, the midfielder has started both of the Magpies' Premier League fixtures this season and manager Alan Pardew has praised Barton's performances so far.
With Barton's services still available, QPR manager Neil Warnock has made a play for the former Manchester City player.
Barton has admitted that talks have taken place with the R's but said that a deal is far from done.
"The latest is that we are completing the final stages of the medical, so we can get that over and done with and see where we are at," Barton told Sky Sports News.
"I've not made a final decision yet but, having spoken to the club, it's a club with ambition and I had to come down and hear what they had to say and go through the formalities of the medical side of it just in case something does happen.
"It's process that you have to take step by step and that's the stage we are at at the moment."
Barton's contract with Newcastle expires next summer.
