Marseille president Vincent Labrune has revealed that Joey Barton's agent has contacted the Ligue 1 club about taking the English midfielder next season.
Barton, who made 32 appearances for OM during the 2012-13 season, had been linked with a switch back to the Stade Velodrome, but the Liverpudlian rubbished suggestions of a potential move.
However, Labrune has suggested that his agent, Willie McKay, had been in touch to offer the Queens Park Rangers player, but that his high wage demands were too prohibitive.
He told the Daily Mail: "The agent called me last week to offer me Joey for next year, but I don't think so."
Barton was part of the QPR team which beat Newcastle United 2-1 at Loftus Road on Saturday.
