Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has suggested that the club could make a move for Aston Villa striker Darren Bent in the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old has fallen out of favour at Villa Park under manager Paul Lambert and while Redknapp once criticised the forward during their time at Tottenham Hotspur by claiming that his wife could have scored after Bent missed a chance, Redknapp has hinted that he would be willing to sign him.

"We lack a bit of a cutting edge," said Redknapp. "It's a lopsided squad, we could do with a couple of frontmen to give us a chance.

"I like Darren, I have no problems with him. I just made a comment that maybe I shouldn't have. It was difficult, he didn't like that and within no time he decided he wanted to go but he's a good player and he can score goals."

Liverpool have also been linked with a January move for the striker.
