Rob Green has reportedly been informed that he will be dropped to the bench if he does not seal a move away from Queens Park Rangers this month.
According to the London Evening Standard, a clause in the 35-year-old's expiring contract means that he will automatically earn a 12-month extension if he makes five more appearances - taking his tally to 30 - this season.
The report adds that due to the fact that the R's are unlikely to secure promotion back to the Premier League this term, they no longer want to pay the former England goalkeeper's £40,000-a-week wages.
As a result, it has been claimed that Green will now have to depart Loftus Road in order to secure regular match action.
It is expected that summer signing Alex Smithies will be promoted to the role of number one keeper.
