Rangers have cruised to a 2-0 half-time lead over Ayr United at Ibrox in the Scottish League One.
United, who have failed to secure victory away at Rangers since 1959, were handed an uphill task in their bid to eradicate the status quo after just 12 minutes, as Irishman Jon Daly rose highest to nod home Ian Black's free kick.
The Gers, who are vying for their 20th successive win all competitions, made further inroads toward achieving that feat 11 minutes later, when Fraser Aird galloped toward goal before unleashing a fierce effort that sailed past goalkeeper David Hutton.
Daly spurned the opportunity to bag his brace in the closing stages of the first half by firing over the bar from a good position, but the miss proved academic as Ally McCoist's men took a healthy advantage into the interval.
