Ally McCoist is optimistic about Rangers' future after sitting down with new acting chairman David Somers.

Ally McCoist has said that he is "very encouraged" after meeting Rangers' new acting chairman David Somers before their 2-0 over Airdrieonians.

The manager sat down with Somers hours before Saturday's game and revealed his optimism about the club's prospects since the boardroom reshuffle.

He told Rangers.co.uk: "Our meeting very well. I spoke to David last night on the phone after missing him on Thursday, when I left him a message then he left one for me.

"We had a good cup of tea and a great initial chat. I'm very encouraged and I'm hopefully looking forward to a good working relationship."

Somers will head up the search to recruit a new chief executive at Ibrox.
