Hearts have kicked off their Scottish Championship campaign with a dramatic victory against Rangers at Ibrox Stadium.
The hosts nearly opened their season in the perfect fashion when Lewis Macleod beat two men before squaring to Kenny Miller, who had his shot saved. The loose ball fell nicely to David Templeton six yards out, but he headed over the target.
Two chances in quick succession soon followed for Hearts as first Danny Wilson almost picked out Alim Oezturk with a low cross, before Sam Nicholson met Osman Sow's cross which was headed into the hands of Cameron Bell.
Hearts did manage to take the lead early in the second half, however, and it was Wilson who fired the Jambos ahead with his headed effort from a corner.
Ally McCoist's men looked to draw level, and they nearly did so following a goalmouth scramble which saw Miller flick the ball on at the near post, but the Gers could not force it over the line.
Six minutes were added at the end of the game following a nasty injury picked up by Hearts goalkeeper Neil Alexander, and Rangers pounced early on in extra time through Nicky Law.
The midfielder knocked the ball home following another Miller flick-on to level it up, but Sow struck straight from the resulting kickoff to restore the Maroons' lead and ultimately win the game for his side.
