Derby County have claimed a 2-0 victory in their pre-season friendly against Rangers at Pride Park.
Chris Martin fired the Rams ahead in the second half after latching onto a cross from Simon Dawkins.
The striker then grabbed a second when he was played through on goal by Will Hughes, before finishing past Cammy Bell.
Rangers finished the match with 10 men after Bilel Mohsni was shown a straight red card for kicking out at Martin.
Find out how the action unfolded below.
Good afternoon and thank you for joining Sports Mole for live text commentary of the friendly match between Derby County and Rangers at Pride Park.
It's England against Scotland this afternoon as Derby and Rangers go head-to-head in their final friendlies of the summer before their league campaigns get underway next weekend. The team news is in, so without further a do let's take a look at who will be lining up at Pride Park.
DERBY XI: Grant, Christie, Forsyth, Bryson, Naylor, Keogh, Dawkins, Hendrick, Martin, Hughes, Russell
RANGERS XI: Bell, McGregor, McCulloch, Mohsni, Wallace, Hutton, Black, Macleod, Law, Aird, Miller
DERBY SUBS: Ward, Roos, Eustace, Bennett, Hanson, Bunjaku, Sammon, Freeman, Calero, Santos
RANGERS SUBS: Simonsen, Zaliukas, Smith, Templeton, Crawford, Shiels, Gallagher, Boyd
TEAM NEWS: Both teams have named strong starting lineups, which is understandable given next week's start to the season. Chris Martin and Johnny Russell will spearhead the Derby attack, with the likes of Will Hughes and Jeff Hendrick offering the support from midfield. Meanwhile, Kenny Miller starts upfront for Rangers against his former club, with Fraser Aird, Nicky Law and Lewis Macleod the three men playing in behind him.
The primary target for both teams this season will be to make it to their country's top flight by next May. Derby were desperately unlucky to miss out on a place in the Premier League after losing to Queens Park Rangers in the Championship playoff final. They had finished third in the regular season, and hopes are high that they can go one better this time around.
As for Rangers, they will be looking for a third-successive promotion after their ejection from the top flight in 2012. With the likes of Hibernian and Hearts in this season's Scottish Championship it will be tough for them to return to the Scottish Premier League.
The big kick off to the league season next weekend sees Derby take on Championship newcomers Rotherham at home. They then face trips to Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton, before ending August with home ties against Fulham and Ipswich.
Meanwhile, Rangers face a tricky opening next Sunday against Hearts. That match is followed up by a visit to Falkirk, before home games against Dumbarton and Queen of the South.
The players are out on the pitch and we are just a few minutes away from the start of this afternoon's match.
KICKOFF! We are underway at Pride Park!
Rangers are given an early chance to test the Derby defence from a set piece out wide on the right, but after getting plenty of men forward Wallace's delivery is poor and fails to beat the first man.
The visitors are looking the stronger side in these early stages and they are not allowing their opponents' defence to settle. Aird is giving them a particularly tough time and is almost in behind, before a last ditch challenge.
Rangers switch off at the back and a horrendous pass across the back allows Dawkins to run clean through on goal. He is clean through on goal, but as he tries to take it round Bell the keeper does enough to force him wide and they get enough players back to clear the ball behind.
CHANCE! Former Dundee player Russell comes close to scoring for Derby with a free kick from just outside the box, but his curling effort goes narrowly over the bar.
Derby are stating to get a grip on this match now and their forward players combine well on the edge of their opponent's box, before Russell's threaded ball is slightly too long and runs through for the keeper.
CHANCE! Rangers really should be ahead! Aird is picked out unmarked at the back post following good work by Miller, but he somehow directs his header wide of the post.
The hosts win another free kick in a promising position just outside the Rangers penalty area, but they let the chance go to waste again as Martin blazes his strike high and wide of the target.
There is a fast tempo this match, which is always good to see in a pre-season friendly. Both teams are looking to get at their opponents' backlines quickly and Derby are almost in behind when Hendrick latches onto a ball down the right wing, but as he tries to slip a cross into the middle he is well closed down by the Rangers defence.
Russell has a half-chance for Derby after breaking into the box, but from a wide angle he can't generate enough power on his strike to put Bell under any real pressure and the keeper easily makes the save at his near post.
Just past the midway stage in this first half, it has been an evenly fought contest, with the hosts just slightly on top. They have created more of the chances, but Aird will know that he should have given Rangers the lead with his headed effort.
It has become a much tighter game than we witnessed in the early stages, with both teams going in which some late challenges that would be more at home in a league fixture. It is certainly good preparation to be involved in such a competitive match with the real business set to begin soon.
Rangers are enjoying their best spell of the match at the moment and they have pegged Derby back deep inside their own half. Miller is showing some neat touches and looking to orchestrate the play, but they are yet to really test Derby keeper Grant.
The visitors win a free kick in a decent position around 25 yards out from goal that favours the left foot of Wallace. The full back then drives in a low effort that is blocked by the wall before the keeper even has the chance to make a save.
CHANCE! The game bursts into life as Derby hit Rangers on the counter and get plenty of men forward. The ball is eventfully fed by Martins into the path of Dawkins who takes a touch, before seeing his powerful effort blocked at close range by Grant. The ball rebounded to him kindly, but his follow up effort was cleared off the line by Mohsni.
That chance has certainly livened up the crowd here, in a half that has lacked too many moments of real quality. Rangers though will be delighted if they can go into the break on level terms.
HALF-TIME: Derby County 0-0 Rangers
It's half time at Pride Park and we are still goalless between Derby and Rangers. It has been a competitive encounter, but neither side has been able to take their chances so far.
The best chance of the game belonged to Aird, who somehow headed wide at the back post with the keeper getting nowhere near the ball. Derby have wasted a couple of opportunities from decent looking free kicks, while Dawkins was denied by Grant before seeing his follow up cleared off the line.
Just a reminder that we have plenty of pre-season matches up for you today. Arsenal are in Emirates Cup action against Benfica, West Ham travel to Germany to face Schalke and Manchester United take on Real Madrid in just some of today's highlights. Make sure you stay with us for minute-by-minute coverage of all those fixtures.
We are not far away from the kick off to the second half here at Derby and with a number of substitutions expected to take place the game may open up and give us a goal or two before the end.
The players are now back out on the pitch and the second 45 minutes of action will be commencing in just a few moments.
Rangers take the kick off and we are back underway at Pride Park.
Decent opening to the second half by Derby, with Naylor getting free down the left wing. He looks up and tries to pick out his teammates in the middle but the delivery is too close to Bell who claims well at his near post.
It's Rangers turn to get down the flanks and Aird almost gets in behind Naylor, but the defender does well to watch him all the way and puts the ball behind for a corner.
Rangers come close from the resulting set piece, as a deep delivery into the box finds the run of Mohsni, but the defender doesn't make clean contact with the ball and it ends up kindly in the gloves of Grant.
Russell produces a great piece of play after breaking free of the offside trap and finding himself in space down the left. He then whips in a fierce ball right across the six-yard box, which is missed by Bell, but can't find any of his teammates.
OFF THE POST! Dawkins has come the closet for Derby this afternoon and he is inches away from scoring again. He collects the ball in the box, before turning Mohsni inside out and then fires in a low drive that comes back off the far post with the keeper left stranded.
GOAL! Derby County 1-0 Rangers (Chris Martin)
Dawkins has been involed in all of Derby's best moments and he has a hand in setting up the goal. The winger does well to latch onto Christie's low delivery into the box, before pulling the ball back for the arriving Martin to smash into the net.
SUBSTITUTION: Rangers respond to conceding by bringing on Boyd and Smith for Aird and Hutton.
That goal has settled the home side and they are looking very much in control of this match now. They are showing some neat touches in the midfield and it would be no surprise to see them grab a second with their opponents slightly deflated at the moment.
SUBSTITUTION: Rangers make another change, with Templeton coming on for Wallace.
SUBSTITUTION: The hosts also make a change, with Ward coming on to replace Russell.
Naylor has looked lively down the left for the hosts today and he whips in another teasing delivery that somehow misses everyone at the front post, before heading across the box and out of play.
GOAL! Derby County 2-0 Rangers (Chris Martin)
Derby have managed to double their lead and it's a second goal for Martin. A lot of the credit is owed to Hughes, who drove through the midfield, before playing Martin into the box to slide a composed finish past the keeper.
RED CARD! Well, I didn't think we would see a sending off before today's friendly, but it's Rangers who will now finish the match with 10 men. It's Mohsni who walks after kicking out at Martin and he could well face a ban for that.
SUBSTITUTION: Zaliukas has come on for Rangers in the place of Miller. Derby's goalscorer Martin is also off, with Sammon taking his place upfront.
Derby go in search of a third goal and Dawkins tries his luck from range after cutting in from the left, but his low drive is comfortably saved by Bell at his near post.
Despite a decent performance in the first half, Rangers have faded after the break and it looks as if they will go into the new season off the back of a defeat. Their day can be summed up by Boyd's latest attempt, as the striker swings and completely misses a long ball over the top.
It's a very comfortable end to the match for Derby who are seeing all of the possession thanks in part to their numerical advantage. We have also just had a short stoppage in play after a flare is thrown onto the pitch, but the referee deals with the situation and the game is quickly resumed.
Derby will have a chance to grab a third goal, as they win a free kick just outside the box.
CHANCE! It's Bryson who strikes the free kick, but his low effort goes just wide of the far post.
FULL-TIME: Derby County 2-0 Rangers
The game comes to an end at Pride Park and Derby have claimed a morale-boosting 2-0 victory over Rangers in their final pre-season friendly. A double from Chris Martin has been enough for the Rams, while Bilel Mohsni saw red for the visitors.
Steve McClaren's men will go into their first Championship fixture against Rotherham full of confidence after that win, as they try to win promotion to the Premier League. As for Rangers, they will have to improve when they face Hearts in their opening league match.
That's all we've got time for here today. Thank you for joining me and stay with us for all of today's pre-season action. I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend. Goodbye!
