Reading goalkeeper Adam Federici has said that he is "sorry" for his mistake in Saturday's FA Cup semi-final defeat against Arsenal.
The Australian allowed Alexis Sanchez's strike to slip from his grasp and through his legs to hand the Gunners a 2-1 lead in extra time, which they held to book their place in the final.
Federici believes that the game would have gone to a penalty shootout had it not been for his error.
"Just like to say thank you for all your messages and how sorry I am for my mistake, we gave our all and deserved to at least take it pens," he wrote on Twitter.
"It's part of being a goalkeeper and I'm sure it will make me stronger! Thank you again for your amazing support."
Reading face Birmingham City on Wednesday in the Championship.
