Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid have played out a goalless first half in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final at Vicente Calderon this evening.
The visitors could have taken the lead inside the opening five minutes when Gareth Bale fought his way into the box before driving the ball towards the Atletico goal, but Jan Oblak made the save.
The Atletico keeper was tested again when Cristiano Ronaldo lined up a free kick shortly after, but Oblak got down low to make the save.
The home side started to see more of the ball going forward midway through the first half, but it was the defending European champions who continued to look the more likely, with Ronaldo looking for Karim Benzema, who was crowded out.
Oblak had to make another couple of saves before the break as Bale and James Rodriguez both tried their luck from distance, but the Slovenian keeper was ready for both.
The home side had a chance against the run of play when Sergio Ramos gave the ball away, allowing Antoine Griezmann to rifle it towards the Real goal, but the shot was straight at Iker Casillas, ensuring that the deadlock remained heading into half time.
