Cristiano Ronaldo headed in from close range to give Real Madrid a 1-0 lead over Copenhagen at half time in their Champions League group stage clash this evening.
The Danish side made a positive start, as Claudemir and Thomas Delaney tried to apply pressure on the edge of the Real box, but the first chance of the game fell to the hosts, as Karim Benzema headed a Marcelo cross just wide.
Ronaldo broke the deadlock after 21 minutes, as Marcelo curls the ball in again, this time picking out the Portuguese international, who climbed high to make the header.
The goal gave Ronaldo a confidence boost, which saw him try to make it two with a shot from outside the box, but Olof Mellberg was able to make the block for the visitors.
Nicolai Jorgensen had a good chance to level for the visitors just before the break, but his header bounced off the crossbar before Luka Modric cleared.
