Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti insists that his side should have scored in their goalless draw in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

Carlo Ancelotti has said that his Real Madrid side should have scored in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie against Atletico Madrid this evening.

Last season's finalists played out a goalless draw at Vicente Calderon, leaving the tie finely poised ahead of next week's second leg at the Bernabeu.

"It is not so good a result. We played really well first half and should score but we are happy for the performance," BBC Sport quotes that Italian as saying.

"We have to try and repeat our first-half performance in our stadium. It was a good save against Gareth Bale in my opinion. He had a very good game."

Real beat the Spanish champions in extra time to be crowned European champions last season.
