Joao Felix has insisted that he is "fine" after suffering an injury scare during Barcelona's Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday evening.

The Portugal international, who is on loan at the La Liga champions from Atletico Madrid, limped off the field in the 75th minute of Barcelona's 2-1 win over Shakhtar.

Xavi's side were able to hold on for all three points in their European encounter, and their attention has now switched to Saturday's El Clasico with Real Madrid.

Barcelona have a number of injury problems ahead of the encounter, with Sergi Roberto, Jules Kounde, Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Frenkie de Jong and Pedri all on the sidelines.

There had been fears that Felix had joined the injury list ahead of the clash with Carlo Ancelotti's side.

However, the on-loan forward took to social media after the game with Shakhtar to insist that he is "fine".

"I'm fine! It was just a blow. Recover and prepare the next game," he posted on his Instagram account.

Meanwhile, Barcelona boss Xavi said during his post-match press conference: "Joao Félix? It seems like a blow. That's what he told me. There's no need to be alarmed. Let's hope there's no danger."

The 23-year-old has been in strong form for the Catalan outfit this season, scoring three times and registering four assists in 10 appearances in all competitions.

Felix has one goal and three assists in seven La Liga appearances and is expected to line up in the starting side on Saturday providing that he can prove his fitness.

"We made it difficult for ourselves at the end. Shakhtar played all the balls, it was a fantastic day to recover high. We did well until the goal and then we suffered by not scoring the third goal," Xavi added on Wednesday while discussing the clash with the Ukrainian side.

"El Clasico predictions? I always see it as difficult. Real Madrid is strong, in great dynamics, difficult to predict anything. At 50%.

"Today I have to be more understanding than ever. It was a game that we were considered winners and we had a difficult opponent. We have complicated ourselves. There has been a lack of effectiveness to win comfortably."

Barcelona are currently third in the La Liga table, one point behind the leaders Real Madrid, who recorded a 2-1 win over Braga in the Champions League on Tuesday. body check tags ::
