Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino "hopes" to see Neymar recover from injury in time to face Real Madrid in the Champions League.

The former Barcelona man has been out of action since suffering a severe ankle injury against Saint-Etienne back in November but is not far off a return to team training.

PSG will welcome Real Madrid to the Parc des Princes for the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on February 15, and Pochettino is quietly optimistic over Neymar's potential return for the clash.

"We don't know yet, we hope so, we have to follow his progress, he has to keep running next week. We hope he will be there," Pochettino told the press after Sunday's Ligue 1 thrashing of Reims.

Neymar has three goals and three assists to his name from 10 Ligue 1 appearances this term but failed to register in four Champions League games before his injury.

Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi were both passed fit for Sunday's 4-0 win over Reims, with PSG now facing crunch clashes against Nice, Rennes and Lille before the visit of Los Blancos.
