Real Madrid suffer major injury blow ahead of Champions League final

:Headline: Real Madrid suffer major injury blow ahead of Champions League final:
Real Madrid's Aurelien Tchouameni is a major doubt for the Champions League final due to a foot injury, according to a report.

Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni is allegedly a major doubt for the Champions League final at the start of next month due to a foot injury which he picked up against Bayern Munich.

The France international was replaced in the 70th minute of his side's 2-1 victory over Bayern in the second leg of their European Cup semi-final on Wednesday night.

Real Madrid recorded a 4-3 aggregate success to advance to the final, with Borussia Dortmund, who overcame Paris Saint-Germain in the final four, their opponents at Wembley on June 1.

However, the victory came at a cost, with the club revealing that Tchouameni suffered a foot injury during the second leg of the tie against Thomas Tuchel's side.

"After the tests carried out today on our player Aurelien Tchouameni by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a stress injury in his left foot. Evolution pending," read a statement on the club's official website.

Aurelien Tchouameni suffers foot injury

Real Madrid have not put a timeframe on his recovery, but it is believed to be almost certain that he will miss the end of the 2023-24 La Liga campaign.

Los Blancos have already been confirmed as champions, and they will take on Granada, Alaves, Villarreal and Real Betis in their final four league matches of the season.

Carlo Ancelotti's side will then tackle Dortmund at the start of June, with the La Liga champions bidding to secure a 15th European Cup in what will be an 18th final in the competition.

According to The Athletic, Real Madrid believe that Tchouameni only has a '20% chance' of being available for the Champions League final in the English capital.

However, the midfielder will allegedly be fit for France's Euro 2024 campaign.

Midfielder only has a '20% chance' of making European Cup final

Tchouameni has been a vital player for Ancelotti's side during the 2023-24 season, making 38 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and registering one assist in the process.

The 24-year-old suffered a fracture on his left foot towards the end of last year, which saw him miss five La Liga fixtures and three matches in the group stage of the Champions League.

Tchouameni has been used as a centre-back on a number of occasions this season due to the team's injury problems in that area of the field.

David Alaba remains unavailable for the rest of the season, but Eder Militao is now back to fitness, while Nacho has proven to be an important player during the 2023-24 campaign.

Should Tchouameni fail to prove his fitness for the Champions League final, it is likely that Eduardo Camavinga will be given the nod alongside Toni Kroos and Federico Valverde in midfield against Dortmund. body check tags ::
