Cristiano Ronaldo has insisted that manager Zinedine Zidane deserves huge credit for helping Real Madrid to an unprecedented 11th European Cup success.
Los Blancos came out on top in a tense final against Atletico Madrid in Milan on Saturday night, eventually seeing off their capital rivals on penalty kicks.
Ronaldo was the man to score the decisive pen, capitalising after Juanfran missed from 12 yards to seal yet another Champions League crown for the competition's most successful side.
Speaking after the match, which finished 1-1 following extra time, Ronaldo is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "Zidane has done a phenomenal job and he deserves it because he's a gentleman and is humble, so I'm happy for him.
"I had a vision and saw I was going to score the winning goal, so I asked Zidane to take the fifth penalty. It is a very special moment, and it is well deserved for the players and the fans, who've always been there for us."
Yannick Ferreira Carrasco cancelled out Sergio Ramos's opening goal to take the game all the way, before Real prevailed on pens at San Siro.
