Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that some of his players should take the blame for the club's 2-1 defeat to Celta Vigo on Wednesday night.
Madrid will have to overcome the deficit to progress to the Copa del Rey quarter-finals and while Mourinho has admitted that he expects to be criticised for the defeat, he believes that responsibility should lie at the feet of several of his Real Madrid players.
Mourinho told reporters: "People are always entitled to their own opinion and have the right to criticise the coach. But perhaps it's not always the coach who shoulders all the responsibility. I took my responsibility and that's that.
"Some players have disappointed me, but you cannot expect me to comment on the performance of individual players.
"[Raphael] Varane was a true champion. He was injured toward the end, but still did more than some of the players who were fully fit."
Real Madrid are currently 11 points off the pace in La Liga.
