A free kick from Sergio Ramos has given Real Madrid a 1-0 lead over Real Valladolid in their La Liga match this evening.
However, there was worrying news early on for the visitors as Cristiano Ronaldo was forced off just 10 minutes into the tie, punching the bench in frustration as he headed off the pitch, with early reports suggesting that the Portuguese has a hamstring injury.
The home side had the best chance early on, as an Oscar cross landed for Javi Guerra, but the striker's header went just wide of the post.
Madrid came close to taking the lead shortly before half time when Alvaro Morata crossed the ball in for Ramos, but he could not find the target.
Carlo Ancelotti's side were able to edge ahead with 10 minutes to go in the first half when they were awarded a free kick just outside the box, which Ramos curled into the top corner.
If Madrid go on to win this evening, they will close the gap at the top of the table to two points.
