Goals from Isco, Cristiano Ronaldo and Jese have given Real Madrid a 3-1 half-time lead against Las Palmas.
It took Real just four minutes to opening the scoring at the Bernabeu, with Luka Modric supplying Isco with the pass before the playmaker slotted the ball into the corner.
Just before the quarter-hour mark, it was two after a delivery from the left flank from Marcelo was headed in by Cristiano Ronaldo.
The warning signs were there that Las Palmas could capitulate as Real pushed for a third, but the visitors almost halved the deficit when a Jonathan Viera effort was well saved by Kiko Casilla.
Jese could have made it three for the home side on 28 minutes but despite being played in by Marcelo, he could not find a way past the goalkeeper.
With seven minutes of the half remaining, Hernan powered a header past Casilla to seemingly give Las Palmas hope for the second half, but Real soon reopened their two-goal advantage after Jese curled an effort into the far corner.
