Paris Saint-Germain have been boosted by the news that striker Edinson Cavani should be available for their game with Real Madrid next week after recovering from injury earlier than expected.

The Uruguayan international damaged his hip against Toulouse last month and had been expected to join the suspended Neymar and injured Kylian Mbappe on the sidelines for their opening Champions League clash but he appears to be close to 100%.

Le Parisien reports that the former Napoli frontman could be fit enough to feature against Strasbourg at the weekend.

Although the French champions are unlikely to want to risk Cavani aggravating the injury, the report suggests that they are considering giving him some minutes to improve his match sharpness.

PSG welcome Madrid to the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night in their first game in Group A, which also includes Club Brugge and Galatasaray.
