Real Madrid and Wales star Gareth Bale is reportedly set for a long-term layoff due to a hamstring injury.
The Welsh international did not feature during Real Madrid's 5-2 victory against Celta Vigo on Sunday night, and it has now been claimed that the reason for that was due to an injury, which is being deemed as long-term following a scan this morning.
Marca claims that Bale picked up the problem during the final training session on Saturday prior to the game, and images have surfaced online of him with a bandage wrapped around his right thigh.
The setback has dealt a major blow to the Spanish outfit, but also to the Welsh international team who have two crucial World Cup qualifying games coming up next month.
Bale was set to earn his 100th cap for his country against the Czech Republic in October, while they also have another match against Estonia just days after that.
Wales trail the Group E leaders Belgium by nine points, while Real Madrid could be without the forward for some equally important La Liga and Champions League fixtures.
Los Blancos face Inter Milan on Wednesday in their first group game of the European competition, while they have big league matches against Valencia and Villarreal on the horizon. body check tags ::
