Real Madrid have confirmed that Luka Modric will spend time on the sidelines having picked up a thigh injury on international duty with Croatia.
The midfielder was forced to miss his side's 1-0 victory over Malta on Tuesday having suffered the problem during the 3-0 win against Bulgaria three days earlier.
Madrid have now examined the extent of the injury themselves on the 30-year-old's return to the club, although no time frame has been given for his recovery.
"Following tests carried out on Luka Modric by the Real Madrid medical team, he has been found to have a muscular injury in the adductor muscle in his right leg," read a statement on the club's official website.
"His situation will be closely monitored."
Madrid, who currently sit third in the Primera Division table, take on Levante at home on Saturday.
