Brazil goalkeeper Ederson has said that there is "a big possibility" Carlo Ancelotti will become the South American nation's new manager later this year.

Ancelotti has a contract with Real Madrid until the summer of 2024, but there is currently speculation surrounding his future, with Brazil said to be keen to appoint the Italian as Tite's replacement.

Los Blancos are still fighting for three trophies this season, but they are 12 points behind Barcelona in La Liga and also trail the Catalan side 1-0 ahead of the second leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final.

Real Madrid remain in the Champions League, meanwhile, preparing to take on Chelsea in the quarter-finals of the competition.

On Saturday, Brazil will play their first match since being eliminated by Croatia on penalties in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup, which will see them take on Morocco in a friendly.

Speaking during a press conference, Manchester City stopper Ederson claimed that "there is a big possibility" of Ancelotti becoming Brazil's new manager.

"I was discussing this with Casemiro, Vinicius Junior, [Eder] Militao. There is a big possibility that he comes," Ederson told reporters. "Just look at his CV. We will know shortly whether he will be here or not.

"I hope we can have a new coach quickly. I feel the anticipation too because there's too much speculation. Is it a Brazilian or a foreign coach? We are also living that phase of anxiety."

Ramon Menezes, who is in charge of Brazil Under-20s, will take the first team for the contest with Morocco, as Brazil look to return to winning ways following the disappointment of the World Cup.

Ancelotti was again asked about his future ahead of Sunday's El Clasico with Barcelona, and the 63-year-old reiterated a desire to stay at Bernabeu for as long as possible.

"My evaluation is something that the club has to do and not me. I have already said that I would like to stay for the rest of my life but I know that this is impossible. Whatever happens, the club will decide at the end of the season," the Italian told reporters.

"My thought is to continue and what the club decides will be what counts. If they want me, I will enjoy it. If not, I will enjoy it for as long as I have left. I will be grateful for life."

Ancelotti enjoyed a successful 2021-22 campaign at Real Madrid following his return to the club, winning La Liga, the UEFA Super Cup and the Champions League.

Real Madrid would allegedly consider appointing Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager if Ancelotti leaves the club at the end of the campaign. body check tags ::
