Atletico Madrid defender Filipe Luis has admitted that his side missed a trick when they drew 1-1 with Sevilla at the Vicente Calderon on Sunday evening.
Three points in the Spanish capital would have moved Atletico to the top of La Liga following Barcelona's draw with Levante, but Diego Simeone's side were held on their own patch.
"We had a good chance to go top, but there is still a long way to go," he told reporters at a press conference.
"We are now a target and it is very difficult to compete with Real Madrid and Barcelona. The merit of what we have done can be seen in our opponents. Look at Sevilla, their bench celebrated the draw as if it was a final."
Atletico and Barcelona have both taken just two points from their last two league games, while six points from a possible six for Real Madrid have moved them to within one point of the top.
