Rafael Benitez will be confirmed as the new manager of Real Madrid on Wednesday morning.
The Spaniard has been the favourite to take the reins at the Santiago Bernabeu since Carlo Ancelotti was sacked by the club last week following a trophiless season.
Benitez, whose final game in charge of Napoli ended in a 4-2 home defeat at the hands of Lazio on Sunday, flew to Madrid for talks this afternoon and will be confirmed as the club's new boss tomorrow, according to BBC Sport.
The 55-year-old began his coaching career with Madrid's B team before finding success with the likes of Valencia, Liverpool, Inter Milan and Chelsea.
His Napoli side missed out on Champions League qualification in the season just finished, however, with their final-day defeat condemning them to a fourth-place finish.
