Marcelo has issued an apology to Real Madrid supporters following the emphatic 4-0 defeat to rivals Barcelona.
A clinical display from Barcelona earned them victory in El Clasico and moved them six points clear at the top of La Liga, and Marcelo refused to make any excuses for the performance at Santiago Bernabeu.
"Unfortunately, we failed to do things well. We have to forget this and learn from it," the Brazilian full-back told Canal Plus.
"We apologise to the supporters, that wasn't the game we wanted to play.
"We'll keep fighting in the way we have to fight."
Real will be replaced in second if Atletico Madrid beat Real Betis on Sunday.
