Marcelo has praised his Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo for his habit of delivering when it matters following their 2-1 win at Getafe on Saturday afternoon.
The Portuguese star scored his first La Liga goal of the season in the 85th minute at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez to give Los Blancos a record 13th successive away win.
Ronaldo's goal came just moments after missing from around three yards out and Marcelo was eager to praise the 32-year-old after the game.
"We know what Cristiano brings to Madrid," the full-back said in quotes published on Real Madrid's official website.
"He deserves a lot of credit for all he's done at Madrid and we know that when he has to show up, he does so. That happens in football. I couldn't tell you why.
"We're trying to improve with every game, trying to cut the gap to first place and continue fighting for all the points available."
Real's win, obtained in Zinedine Zidane's 100th game in charge, edges the club to within five points of La Liga leaders Barcelona.
