Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has said that the La Liga crown was the toughest of the seven league titles he has won during his career.
Mourinho's side were crowed champions on Wednesday evening following a 3-0 win at Athletic Bilbao, which maintained their seven-point advantage over Barcelona with two games remaining.
"It was the most difficult," said the former Chelsea boss. "Up until the final moment nobody gifted us anything," he added.
"Bilbao put out their best team, the stadium was full and the team wanted to win and fight, which is the way it should be."
Barcelona kept the pressure on their rivals earlier in the evening with a 4-1 thrashing of Malaga.
"Barca won a lot of games and tried to push the league as far as possible," Mourinho added. "I think that they themselves, champions and a club with a great tradition, know that we deserve this league title."
Mourinho has won league titles in Portugal, England, Italy and Spain, a feat no other manager has achieved.
