Goalkeeper Victor Valdes has insisted that Barcelona will be taking this evening's first leg of the Spanish Super Cup against Real Madrid seriously.
The Catalan club claimed a La Liga and Champions League double last season and now Valdes has revealed that his teammates have targeted even more success in the new campaign, starting with the Super Cup.
"The Super Cup is special regardless of who you play," said the 29-year-old.
"We see it as a vital trophy that we want to win. It's the first trophy on offer this season and obviously we want it.
"We can't live off the memories [of last season]. It's time to turn the page, to face new challenges and to raise our sights looking forward."
The first leg takes place at the Bernabau tonight with the return leg at the Nou Camp on Wednesday, August 17.
