Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti reveals truth behind England job links

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti reveals the truth behind speculation linking him with the England manager's job.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that he was not contacted about the England manager's job.

The Football Association recently unveiled Thomas Tuchel as Gareth Southgate's successor, appointing the former Bayern Munich boss on an initial 18-month contract.

While England settled on Tuchel, FA CEO Mark Bullingham said that "approximately 10" candidates were interviewed for the manager's position.

Former England striker Gary Lineker claimed that the FA spoke to Ancelotti about the possibility of him becoming the new England manager.

However, the Real Madrid boss has refuted that suggestion, stating that he had no contact with the FA before Tuchel's appointment.

"No. I didn't hear from the English national team at all," Ancelotti told reporters when asked whether he was considered as a candidate.

"They've chosen a very good coach, in my opinion. He's very strong tactically and he has proven so throughout his whole career. I wish him the best."

Ancelotti has previously been linked with a job in international football after he was regarded as a top candidate for the Brazil job following the 2022 World Cup.

However, the Italian ultimately decided to commit his future to Real Madrid, signing a new deal last December to extend his stay until June 2026.

What next for Ancelotti and Real Madrid?

It remains to be seen whether Ancelotti will move into international football in the future, but his current focus will be on guiding Real Madrid through a crucial run of fixtures.

Ancelotti's side will return to action with an away game against Celta Vigo on Saturday, before they welcome Borussia Dortmund to the Santiago Bernabeu for Tuesday's Champions League clash.

Real Madrid will then turn their focus to one of the biggest games in world football, with Los Blancos set to take on arch-rivals Barcelona in El Clasico on October 26.

The European champions will also face Valencia, AC Milan and Osasuna before the next international break in November.

Having collected 21 points from nine matches, Real Madrid will enter the weekend in second place in La Liga and three points adrift of Barcelona. body check tags ::
