Real Madrid became the first La Liga team to score 10 times in a single match since 1969 as they thumped Rayo Vallecano 10-2 in their league meeting in the Spanish capital on Sunday afternoon.

The visitors had two players - Tito and Raul Baena - sent off in the incredible match, which saw Rayo actually lead 2-1 early on after registering through Antonio Amaya and Jozabed Sanchez.

Danilo's opener was followed by four from Gareth Bale, three from Karim Benzema and two from Cristiano Ronaldo, however, as the home side thumped their capital rivals at the Bernabeu.

Here, Sports Mole takes a closer look at how each player performed in Madrid.

REAL MADRID

Goal

Keylor Navas: Should have done better on the header from Amaya and was also caught for the away side's second. Aside from that, did not have an awful lot to do between the sticks for his side. (6/10)

Defence

Danilo: It is true that the Brazilian was strong going forward and he scored his team's first before setting up their second, but the right-back defended Rayo's second goal very poorly indeed. (7/10)

Sergio Ramos: Real Madrid were stunning going forward, but they really were not that impressive at the back. Ramos was the pick of the bunch, but he still had a couple of dodgy moments in Madrid. (7/10)

Pepe: Was beaten in the air by Amaya for Rayo's leveller and did not look too comfortable when the away side managed to press forward. Did not have much to do in the second half of action. (6/10)

Marcelo: Did appear that the defender would be forced off with an injury in the first half, but he continued until the second period. Was part of a back four that were not too impressive despite the win. (7/10)

Midfield

Toni Kroos: Took some nasty challenges in the early moments and did well to run off a horror challenge from Tito. Much more like it from the German, whose passing and use of the ball was excellent. (8/10)

Luka Modric: Like Kroos, Modric used the ball brilliantly in the middle of the park and set up Benzema for his third with a super little pass late on. Makes this Los Blancos team tick from a central area. (8/10)

James Rodriguez: Was replaced for the final 30 minutes, but had an excellent game. Provided three assists and was class personified each time he had possession of the ball. Much more like it. (9/10)

Attack

Gareth Bale: Close to a perfect game for the Welshman. Scored four times during what was an outstanding performance in the final third. Linked extremely well with Ronaldo in Madrid. (9/10)

Karim Benzema: Did not join the party until the second period, but still managed to hit a hat-trick. Demonstrated his excellent finishing ability and was always playing on the shoulder. (9/10)

Cristiano Ronaldo: Scored twice - including once from the spot - before setting up Bale for the Welshman's third just past the hour. Always a threat, but did miss a couple of excellent chances. (8/10)

Substitutes

Lucas Vasquez: Knows it will be difficult to earn a regular spot in the Real Madrid XI, but had a really good final 30 minutes after replacing Marcelo. Used his pace and movement to cause problems. (7/10)

Mateo Kovacic: Managed to get an assist to his name as he set up Benzema for the Frenchman's third in the final minute. Another that is just struggling to earn a regular starting spot at the moment. (7/10)

Alvaro Arbeloa: Came as a surprise when Bale was withdrawn for the final 15 minutes, but Arbeloa was given a taste of the action late on. Did not see much of the ball in a defensive area. (6/10)

RAYO VALLECANO

Goal

Yoel: A miserable afternoon for the on-loan Valencia goalkeeper. Was left exposed following the two red cards and found his goal peppered for long spells. Will take a while to recover from this match. (4/10)

Defence

Tito: His team took the lead in the 12th minute, but the defender was sent off just two minutes later for an absolute horror of a challenge on Kroos. Did not deserve to stay on the field after that. (3/10)

Ze Castro: Given the run-around in the capital before being replaced for the final 10 minutes. Difficult to be too critical of the defenders due to their complete lack of protection from further forward. (4/10)

Antonio Amaya: Was the pick of Rayo's defenders as he continued to dive into challenges late on and it was the centre-back that scored his team's second goal. Emerges with some credit. (5/10)

Nacho: Was extremely fortunate not to concede at least one penalty as he struggled in a full-back position. Just did not look capable of dealing with Real Madrid's attacking threat. (4/10)

Midfield

Roberto Trashorras: Picked up a booking in the clash that followed Tito's red card. Did his best to get his teammates going in the second period, but the visitors were always fighting a losing battle. (5/10)

Raul Baena: Was booked in the 19th minute for a poor challenge on Kroos, before being shown red in the 28th minute for bringing Ramos to the ground inside the box. The second decision was harsh. (4/10)

Jozabed Sanchez: Sent his team ahead in the 12th minute with a super header from inside the box. It was difficult for him to get involved from that moment due to Real Madrid's domination of the ball. (5/10)

Attack

Pablo Hernandez: Made a bright start to the match as he caused problems in a wide position, but the Spaniard was sacrificed in the 22nd minute as Rayo changed their shape following the red card. (6/10)

Javi Guerra: Has a decent scoring record this term, but hardly had a chance of note in this match. Had Rayo kept all 11 men on the field, he would have fancied his chances of adding to his season tally. (5/10)

Lass Bangoura: One of his team's better players on the afternoon. Used his pace to cause problems and remained a threat in the second period until being replaced for the final 30 minutes. (6/10)

Substitutes

Quini: Came into the match in the 21st minute following Rayo's first red card, but the Spaniard found it just as difficult as all of his teammates. It was too much of an ask to compete with nine players. (5/10)

Bebe: Former Manchester United attacker was given the final 30 minutes to make his mark, but he did not help out defensively and spent the majority of the game stuck in the final third of the field. (5/10)

Joni Montiel: Will forever remember his La Liga debut, especially with that honour occurring away to Real Madrid, but the final 10 minutes was not an ideal time for the youngster to make his mark. (5/10)
