Barcelona are reportedly preparing a summer move for Valencia defender Jose Gaya.

The Catalan giants are thought to be in the market for a new left-back ahead of the 2020-21 campaign amid suggestions that Jordi Alba's future at the club is uncertain.

According to Sport, Ronald Koeman's side are lining up an approach for Gaya, who has a €50m (£45m) release clause in his current deal at Mestalla.

The 25-year-old was again an important player for Valencia last term, making 32 appearances in all competitions, while he has featured 227 times in total for the club since debuting in 2012.

Real Madrid were linked with Gaya earlier this year but are unlikely to move for the Spaniard unless Marcelo departs the Bernabeu in the near future.

Barca are allegedly not actively looking to sell Alba this summer but would be prepared to listen to offers for the full-back as Koeman looks to freshen the side ahead of next season.
