Kylian Mbappe has reportedly told Real Madrid that he wants wages of €50m (£43m) a year in order to join the club from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer this summer.

Speculation surrounding the France international's future in Paris has gathered pace over the last week, with the attacker believed to have decided to make the move to Real Madrid.

Mbappe can end his contract at PSG this summer, and the 25-year-old has allegedly chosen the Spanish giants despite some suggestions that he could arrive in the Premier League.

The forward has allegedly not yet communicated his decision to PSG, but an announcement could arrive in the near future, with the club needing to turn their attention towards securing a replacement if he is leaving.

According to Cadena SER, Mbappe has informed Real Madrid that he wants a yearly salary of €50m (£43m), which would keep him as one of the highest-paid players in European football.

The wage would not make him one of the leading earners in world football, though, due to the astronomical salaries that the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Karim Benzema pick up in Saudi Arabia.

Mbappe's demands, if met, would take him to double Real Madrid's current top earners, though, and it is believed that he is also asking for a huge signing bonus.

The World Cup winner is said to have informed Los Blancos that he would require a signing-on fee of €120m (£102.3m), in addition to wanting a 60/40 split in his favour in terms of image rights at Bernabeu.

Mbappe was widely expected to move to Real Madrid on a free transfer in the summer of 2022, but he ultimately decided to sign a new contract with the French giants.

The forward has cemented his position as one of the best players in world football in recent years, and his record for PSG is 241 goals and 105 assists in 288 appearances in all competitions.

Mbappe has again been in excellent form for his club this season, managing 29 goals and seven assists in 28 appearances in all competitions.

The attacker also has a record of 46 goals and 30 assists in 75 appearances for France, including 12 goals and three assists in 14 outings in the World Cup, which he lifted in 2018 before helping his side reach the final in 2022.

Despite the fact that the former Monaco youngster could move to Los Blancos on a free transfer, it is still shaping up to be one of the biggest deals of all time from a financial point of view.

Mbappe is set to be in action in PSG's Coupe de France clash with Brest on Wednesday evening, while he will be back involved in the Champions League next week, with Luis Enrique's side welcoming Real Sociedad for the first leg of their last-16 tie. body check tags ::
