Paris Saint-Germain attacker Kylian Mbappe has reportedly decided to make the move to Real Madrid this summer, with the France international set to arrive at Bernabeu on a free transfer.
Towards the end of last week, PSG head coach Luis Enrique admitted that he had no idea of Mbappe's plans for this summer, with the 25-year-old able to bring his contract in Paris to an end.
Mbappe was expected to join Carlo Ancelotti's side on a free transfer in 2022, but he ultimately penned a new contract with the French champions.
Various reports had suggested that Real Madrid would not be prepared to enter into another saga for the ex-Monaco youngster and therefore wanted a decision on his future towards the start of this year.
According to Le Parisien, Mbappe has chosen to make the move to Bernabeu, with an announcement from the attacker potentially occurring over the next few weeks.
The report claims that PSG believe the battle to convince Mbappe to stay 'has been lost', with the Frenchman making it clear that he wants to move to Real Madrid.
Mbappe has again been in strong form for his capital side during the 2023-24 campaign, scoring 29 goals and registering seven assists in 28 appearances in all competitions.
In total, the forward has made 288 appearances for PSG, scoring 241 goals and registering 105 assists in the process, but this will seemingly be his final season for the club.
Mbappe was in action for Enrique's side on Friday evening, scoring and providing an assist, as the reigning champions recorded a 2-1 victory over Strasbourg.
The 2018 World Cup winner has won five Ligue 1 titles during his time with PSG, but he is yet to lift the Champions League, coming closest in 2020, when the French side made the final.
Mbappe will be bidding to help his team win another Ligue 1 championship this season, with the champions sitting nine points clear of second-placed Nice at the summit.
PSG will take on Brest in the last-16 stage of the Coupe de France, while their last-16 Champions League opponents are La Liga outfit Real Sociedad.
While Mbappe is set to move to Real Madrid on a free transfer, it is likely to be a historic deal in terms of the signing-on fee that he is expected to receive.
The forward will also remain one of the best-paid footballers in world football, with Real Madrid now seemingly close to finally securing the signature of their leading target. body check tags ::
