Reports in Germany have suggested that Spanish striker Raul may be heading for the exit door at Schalke 04.
The Spaniard's current deal expires this summer, and according to newspaper Bild, Schalke cannot afford to offer him a deal on par with what he currently earns.
Raul arrived at the Bundesliga outfit on a free transfer in 2010, with Schalke contributing €5m (£4.1m) towards his wages.
That deal included Real Madrid paying €2m (£1.6m) towards his salary.
Schalke, who are looking to reduce the wage bill, now look set to offer Klaas Jan Huntelaar a new and improved deal.
