Real Madrid are reportedly hopeful that Kylian Mbappe will not extend his contract with Paris Saint-Germain so they can launch a strong assault for his signature in the summer of 2021.
As it stands, the France international's current deal at PSG will expire in June 2022, and it had been thought that Madrid would make a strong play for the 21-year-old during this summer's transfer window.
However, according to Marca, 'it will be impossible' to sign Mbappe ahead of the 2020-21 campaign, particularly considering that the transfer window could be shortened to just August.
Instead, the report claims that Los Blancos will urge the 2018 World Cup winner to reject any talks over a fresh deal with PSG to allow the Spanish giants to move for him the following summer.
Mbappe is enjoying another excellent season for his French club, scoring 30 times and providing 17 assists in 33 appearances in all competitions.
Overall, the attacker has managed 90 goals and 49 assists in 120 outings for PSG since arriving from Monaco, initially on loan, in the summer of 2017.
