Olmes Garcia's brace clinches a 2-1 win over the Montreal Impact to move Real Salt Lake into second in the Western Conference.

Real Salt Lake have climbed into second place in the Western Conference thanks to a 3-1 victory over the Montreal Impact in Utah.

It took the hosts less than three minutes to break the deadlock as Luke Mulholland reacted quickest to a Chris Schuler header to fire past Evan Busch.

Salt Lake were on top for an extended spell after taking the lead, but their failure to add to the early goal resulted in Montreal levelling the scores when Hassoun Camara combined with Callum Mallace to find the bottom corner from just inside the box.

Nat Borchers wasted the opportunity to restore Salt Lake's lead from close range when he headed Joao Plata's inviting cross over the crossbar.

The hosts applied pressure once again in the early stages of the second half, but their luck didn't change until the 65th minute, when Montreal were reduced to 10 men after Issey Nakajima-Farran caught Schuler with a high challenge.

Olmes Garcia produced his side's second just five minutes later with a powerful header to leave Bush helpless, before completing the victory by drilling in from a tight angle in stoppage time.
