Real Sociedad defender Mikel Gonzalez has insisted that his team are fully focused on completing the season in a positive manner.

A strong run of form had put Sociedad in the picture for a European finish in La Liga, but they have taken just two points from their last four games to all but end that challenge.

Criticism relating to 'a lack of attitude' has been aimed at the Basque outfit, but Gonzalez has blasted such suggestions.

"I don't understand how you can play a match without attitude. I don't even understand the word," the 29-year-old told Mundo Deportivo. "We are playing in La Primera with La Real and in all my years in the game I've never seen a lack of attitude, although it's true you can have a particularly disastrous game."

Sociedad were beaten 1-0 at Elche on Monday evening.
