Juan Ignacio Martinez has praised his Real Valladolid side following their 3-0 win over Celta Vigo in La Liga on Monday evening.
A dull first period produced few chances, but Javi Guerra's second-half hat-trick ensured that Valladolid collected all three points and moved out of the relegation zone in the process.
"I am happy, because we had a bad run and I know that the players have been worked well, they deserved this," Martinez told reporters at a press conference.
"This is a step forward to gain momentum, but we have to follow it up because our situation is very complicated. I did not expect three goals. We have been decisive.
"The team was serious and knew how to neutralise a Celta team with many variations that in the first half created many difficulties for us. The key was not to lose concentration and to have patience."
Guerra has now scored 10 league goals for the season.
