Rennes are on course to spoil Paris Saint-Germain's title celebrations after two goals in four minutes put the Ligue 1 strugglers ahead at the Parc des Princes.
Moments before kickoff, Les Parisiens knew the Ligue 1 championship was theirs once AS Monaco slipped up at home to Guingamp.
However, events in the principality did nothing to quell PSG in the opening minutes as Ezequiel Lavezzi put the hosts in front with barely three minutes on the clock when the Argentine forward slotted home Edinson Cavani's cross.
Rennes, who started the game perilously close to the Ligue 1 drop zone, tried to fight back with Nelson Oliveira and Paul-Georges Ntep both being frustrated in their efforts.
Stade were level midway through the opening period when Abdoulaye Doucoure played in Foued Kadir and the Marseille loanee fired his shot beyond Salvatore Sirigu.
Then the party atmosphere was well and truly extinguished when Ntep fired a free kick into the PSG net four minutes later.
Pastore tried to restore parity just after the half-hour mark, but his shot from Lavezzi's cross was high and wide of the Rennes goal.
