Rennes have moved level on points with Paris Saint-Germain at the top of Ligue 1 after coming from behind to draw against 10-man Lille.
Herve Renard's men almost took the lead midway through the first half when Eric Bautheac's free kick managed to beat keeper Abdoulaye Diallo, but bounced back off the crossbar.
Lille managed to break the deadlock four minutes into the second half after Sofiane Boufal diverted Junior Tallo's cross past Diallo into the bottom corner.
However, visitors suffered a setback when Vincent Enyeama brought down Giovanni Sio as he advanced on goal and the Nigerian international was given a straight red card.
Paul-Georges Ntep stepped up, but saw his spot kick saved by substitute keeper Mike Maignan.
The Cameroonian managed to atone for his penalty miss a minute later, however, as he latched on to Sio's cross before netting from close range.
Kamil Grosicki tried to snatch victory for Stade in the dying minutes, but the Polish international was thwarted by Maignan as Lille hung on for a point.
