Charlton Athletic scored an injury-time goal to snatch a draw against Ipswich Town, courtesy of Johnnie Jackson, after an own goal by Richard Wood gave Ipswich the lead.

Charlton Athletic scored a goal in injury time to snatch a draw against Ipswich Town at Portman Road this afternoon.

An own goal by Charlton defender Richard Wood in the first half looked to have gifted the Tractor Boys all three points, but Johnnie Jackson scored right at the death to ensure a share of the spoils, the game finishing 1-1.

The game saw action early on, as a penalty shout for Charlton was turned down by the referee. Wood was brought down by Daryl Murphy, but despite the protests of the players, nothing was given.

A 25-yard shot from Yann Kermorgant very nearly went in after taking a deflection, but Dean Gerken was able to save.

In the 24th minute, the away side took the lead, courtesy of an own goal by Wood. Murphy broke clear down the left and fired across goal. The ball then hit the defender and went into his own net.

Charlton tried in vain to equalise after conceding, and came close in first-half injury time through Kermorgant, but his free kick missed.

After the break, Dale Stephens threatened for the away side, but his volleyed shot bounced into the ground and went wide, before having another attempt which allegedly struck an Ipswich player's arm in the box.

The Addicks continued to cause trouble, Cameron Stewart's cross floating too high for Jordan Cook.

The home side, trying to extend their lead, saw Murphy beat the offside trap, but his attempt was blocked by Rhoys Wiggins.

In the 78th minute, Ipswich had a chance to make it 2-0, but after being awarded a penalty, David McGoldrick's effort was saved by Alnwick.

Jackson, a late substitute for Charlton, became the hero for his side as his right-footed shot flew into the goal past Gerken.
