Neither team were able break the deadlock in the 90 minutes of the Eredivisie match between Roda JC and Groningen at the Parkstad Limburg Stadion this afternoon.
Both sides struggled to carve out any clear-cut opportunities in the early stages of the game as they lacked quality in the final third of the pitch.
The home side were the first to threaten late in the half when Hicham Faik's corner fell into the path of Mitchell Paulissen, but his effort was well saved by Sergio Padt.
Tom van Hyfte then raided down the right to create further problems for the visitors and he sent a dangerous cross into the box, but Richmond Boakye's header at goal was saved with ease by Padt.
In the second half, Groningen almost went ahead when Albert Rusnak was allowed time and space to drill the ball at goal, only to see his low effort well saved by Benjamin van Leer.
At the other end of the pitch, Paulissen and Faik both tested Padt but the Groningen keeper was up to the challenge of saving their respective strikes at goal.
Both teams pushed for a winner late in the match, but were forced to share the spoils as neither were able to produce the quality to find the back of the net.
Groningen rise to fifth place in the table with the draw, while Roda also move up one place to 14th.
