Jose Mourinho has reportedly held talks with Saudi Pro League club Al Shabab over becoming their new manager, following his sacking by Roma.

The Portuguese boss parted company with Roma on Tuesday after two-and-a-half years at the helm with the Giallorossi.

Mourinho left Roma with the club down in ninth, five points adrift of the Champions League places.

Despite this season's difficulties though, Mourinho endeared himself to the Roma supporters after claiming their first-ever piece of European silverware, following success in the Europa Conference League back in 2022.

Just days after his sacking though, it appears that Mourinho may not have to wait long before returning to work.

Journalist Julien Laurens claims that Mourinho has been in talks with Saudi club Al Shabab over becoming their next manager.

Former Liverpool player Igor Biscan was sacked by Al Shabab in late December after winning just two of his nine league games in charge, leaving them in the bottom half.

With the vacancy currently open, it is believed that Mourinho is in talks, but the two sides are yet to agree on the financial aspects of the deal, as well as the length of contract.

It is also stated that Mourinho has offers from European clubs, and could opt to stay closer to home, instead of exploring the riches of the Saudi Pro League.

Mourinho was thanked for his service with the club by the Roma supporters during their Serie A clash with Hellas Verona this evening.

A banner among the home fans read: "It was a privilege to have you on our side. Thank you Jose!"

On more than one occasion during the first half, the Stadio Olimpico also broke out into chants of Mourinho's name, with his legacy likely to be long-lasting in the Italian capital. body check tags ::
