Roma coach Rudi Garcia has declared that this afternoon's derby success over Lazio will prove to be an important psychological boost for the club's supporters.
Garcia's side continued an impressive start to the campaign with a 2-0 victory in the Rome derby, with Federico Balzaretti and Adem Ljajic on target for the Giallorossi.
With Roma setting the pace in Serie A after recording four successive wins, Garcia has attempted to calm expectations, insisting that a top-five finish remains their primary objective.
He told Sky Sport Italia: "It was a very important game for us and for our fans. As I said before the game, you don't play a derby, you win it.
"I won't forget we now have four consecutive victories."It might be important that Milan, Juventus, Napoli and Fiorentina are playing in Europe, which takes up energy, so it's an advantage for us.
"Our objective is to finish in the top five and get back into Europe. I too am ambitious, but it's too early to say anything more than that. We haven't played enough games to know our true level, but I really like this team and these fans."
The Giallorossi have conceded just once in their first four games under Garcia to top the table, with 10 goals going in at the other end.
