Genoa's two-game Serie A winning streak came to an end this afternoon as second-placed Roma edged a tight game 2-0 at the Stadio Olimpico.
In the early stages, it was Roma dominating the ball, but they have found goals at home hard to come by since the turn of the year and struggled to break Genoa down.
They managed to find a way through 10 minutes before the interval, though, when Seydou Doumbia weaved his way into the area and fired low under Mattia Perin into the net.
In the second half, Roma continued to create the better of the chances, but Genoa were still in the match until the last minute of added time when Alessandro Florenzi stormed upfield and unleashed a powerful shot into the roof of the net to seal a Giallorossi victory.
Roma climb above city rivals Lazio, who will reclaim second place if they beat Atalanta BC this afternoon. Genoa stay sixth and miss out on the chance to go fifth.
